Our long-established, experienced colleague has now gone on maternity leave. She was the one who knew everything: who to call for this information, how to talk to this person, where to find that password and what do by all means avoid when publishing our magazine. When we started (her temporary replacement and me started the same day), we had three months ahead of us to be trained and familiarized. “Oh well”, I thought, “by October we’ll know every detail”. Well, it is October now and I cannot believe where time has gone?! I have a large ring binder with my handwritten notes on how to do things and I know most stuff but it feels a little empty when we are suddenly just two instead of three. But I have plently of stuff to busy myself with: for example offers from people wanting to help me with a private jet: “For any of your trips with the private jet, we are your competent contact person”.
