Reverse Lent

Lent (Latin: Quadragesima: Fortieth) is a solemn religious observance in the Christian liturgical calendar that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends approximately six weeks later, before Easter Sunday. The purpose of Lent is the preparation of the believer through prayer, doing penance, repentance of sins, almsgiving, atonement, and self-denial.

The entire idea  of Carnival marking the beginning of Lent, a time for contemplation and restraint, does not resonate with my life this year. Instead, this is the third Sunday in a row that I put on the Spotify Hangover List and look back on the weekend with a bit of honest astonishment. It’s also the weeks I’ve disliked Dizzel the least thanks to the inspiring company I’ve kept, so maybe doing a kind of Reverse Lent is not the worst idea.

Yesterday, Sweden chose its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest in the Melodifestivalen Final and I had invited the target group for this show to my place. This semi-public screening, during which Lil Pesto presented me with a pineapple as gift for the hostess,  developed into a preparty for Linnea’s house party. It was an intense night ( including the part when Henrike, Karlien and I had to walk home for 45 minutes, “this is going to be to great for my step count today!”) which is also exemplified by the fact that one of the guys texted this morning, “I don’t even remember who won the final?!”

Despite the nightly regression into teenage life, our inner adults reemerged the next day when we decided that “On a nice spring day like this, you just have to go for a walk and get fresh air”. Thanks to Karlien’s car, we could easily go to the Aaper Forest (which kind of didn’t have trees though) and on the way I got to see lots of Düsseldorf that I’d never layed eyes on. We continued to add to our step count, lay down in the sunshine, contemplating winter-spring-difference between Stockholm and the Rhineland, sang spring songs (mostly I sang and mostly it was the first verse of Vårvindar friska several times) and eventually sat down at a café, feeling very grown up.

– Ursäkta, jag är ju hedersledamot i pastaklubben by now?!

Du har auktoritet som en norrlänning!

Ibland vet man inte vad som är Tinder och vad som är PokemonGo för det är monsters överallt.

Du känns väldigt fjäderboakompatibel.
